Skarżyńskiego 1. Wykład odbędzie się w języku angielskim w ramach pobytu Alexa Bittermanna jako profesora wizytującego na Wydziale Architektury PK.
Arch. Alex Bitterman jest zatrudniony na stanowisku profesora w Department of Architecture & Design, Alfred State College of Technology, State University of New York. Jest naukowcem, nauczycielem akademickim, projektantem i prawnikiem. Jego najbardziej znana książka pt. The Life and Afterlife of Gay Neighborhoods: Renaissance and Resurgence została wydana w 2021 roku nakładem wydwnictwa SpringerNature. Profesor Bitterman jest także redaktorem założycielem Multi: the Journal of Responsible Architecture and Design oraz autorem publikacji The College Question: Why College as We Know It Isn’t Working for the Millennial Generation, który jest krytyczną analizą szkolnictwa wyższego i praktycznym przewodnikiem dla przyszłych pokoleń studentów. Jego podręcznik pt.: Design Survey: an Introduction to the Design Professions, jest szeroko stosowanym podręcznikiem akademickim (obecnie zostało wydane jego trzecie wznowienie). Profesor Bitterman jest autorem ponad pięćdziesięciu prezentacji konferencyjnych (w ty m jako keynote speaker). Skutecznie łącząc doświadczenie projektowe z wiedzą naukową i prawniczą, jest autorem licznych publikacji naukowych. Swą wiedzą dzieli się także na poziomie popularnonaukowym, jako specjalista w dziedzinie architektury i prawa (National Geographic, The Advocate i in.).

The lecture will take place in English as part of Alex Bittermann’s activity as a visiting professor at the Faculty of Architecture, CUT.
Alex Bitterman MArch, MLS, PhD is Professor in the Department of Architecture & Design at SUNY Alfred State. He is an author, teacher, designer, administrator, and advocate. His most recent book, The Life and Afterlife of Gay Neighborhoods: Renaissance and Resurgence (ISBN-13: 978-3-030-66073-4) was published in 2021 by Springer Nature. He is the founding editor of Multi: the Journal of Responsible Architecture and Design (ISSN: 1942-3527), an associate editor of Critical Studies in Men’s Fashion, and is also the author of The College Question: Why College as We Know It Isn’t Working for the Millennial Generation, (ISBN-13: 978-149-21199-82), a critical examination of higher education and a practical guide for future generations of college students. His Textbook, Design Survey: an Introduction to the Design Professions (ISBN -10: 0-536-51736-3) is now in its third edition. Dr. Bitterman has made more than fifty conference presentations, and various media appearances including radio and television. He is the proud author of more than a dozen peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. Commentary and interviews with Dr. Bitterman have appeared in National Geographic, The Advocate, The Toronto Star. He was keynote speaker at the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in 2017.
