Opis
This project presents the design of the New Library in Rzeszów. The main idea of this building is to create a modern public space that is open, friendly and easy to use for everyone. The library is not just a place for books. It is conceived as a socio-cultural center of the city. It should serve as a common living room for the residents of Rzeszów, where people can come to read, study, meet others, relax or just spend time.
Today, Rzeszów does not have one strong, central public library that would combine many different functions in one building. Because of this, many people, especially young people, spend their free time in shopping centers. This project is an answer to this problem. The goal was to create a non-commercial public space that is attractive, accessible and welcoming for all age groups.
The project is located in the north-west of Rzeszów, in a location with very good public transport connections and important buildings around it. Nearby there is a school, an administrative building, housing and a shopping centre. This context strongly influenced the design. It was important for me that the building was visible, easily accessible and clearly readable as a library.
The library is designed for many different users. There are spaces for children, teenagers, adults and the elderly, as well as quiet areas for reading and places for meetings, workshops, exhibitions and events. There are also open spaces such as terraces, a square and green areas around the building.
The architectural form of the library is modern and expressive. The glass facade makes the building light and transparent, and shows that what happens inside is open to the city. Overall, this project aims to create a new symbol for Rzeszów. A building that is not only used, but also lived in.
